General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, as Beneficiary Partner, implemented the project “VOLUNTEERING FOR SAFE LIVES” – code in the electronic management system ROBG 332, in partnership with the Municipality of Tutrakan (Bulgaria) – Lead Partner, the General Directorate of Fire Safety and Population Protection of the Ministry of Interior (Bulgaria) – Beneficiary Partner and the National Association of Volunteers in the Republic of Bulgaria – Beneficiary Partner.
The project is funded by the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund under the Interreg V-A Romania-Bulgaria Programme, Priority Axis 3.1: Improving joint cross-border risk management.
The total eligible cost of the project is: EUR 998 815,75.
The project implementation period was 50 months – from 12.09.2018 to 11.11.2022.
Within the framework of the project was implemented the joint activity on volunteer theoretical and practical training in the cross-border area. Eight trainings were conducted in joint training sessions for volunteer firefighters from the cross-border region. Between April and July 2022, 6 joint theoretical and practical training sessions were held in the newly built Volunteer Training Centre in the village of Belitsa, Tutrakan Municipality, Bulgaria, attended by 146 Bulgarian and 76 Romanian volunteers. The best performing of them, 11 Bulgarian and 16 Romanian volunteers, took part in two training sessions held in October (10-14.10.2022 and 17-21.10.2022) at the Professional Training Centre in Constanta, Romania.
Each training session consisted of 3 training modules, namely: “Fire Fighting”, “Flood Intervention” and “Search and Rescue”. The trainings at the Center in Belitsa were conducted by lecturers from the Academy of the Ministry of Interior in Bulgaria and from the Professional Center in Constanta.
