From 11.04.2022 to 15.04.2022. The first training session for volunteers was held at the Training Center in the village of Belitsa. The trainings are part of the activities of the project “JOINT VOLUNTEERING FOR A SAFER LIFE” and are held at the Volunteer Training Center in the renovated building of the former school.
The project is implemented by the Municipality of Tutrakan in partnership with the General Directorate “Fire Safety and Protection of the Population” at the Ministry of Interior, the General Inspectorate for Emergencies in the Republic of Romania and the National Association of Volunteers in the Republic of Bulgaria. The project is funded by the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund under the Interreg VA Program – Romania – Bulgaria, Priority Axis 3.1 Safe Region.
The trainings were conducted in accordance with the Training Program for Voluntary Units, developed by the project partners. During the trainings, the Bulgarian and Romanian volunteers got acquainted with basic concepts and acquired basic practical skills in order to cooperate effectively in case of natural or man-made disasters and accidents in the cross-border region. This is a pilot initiative with which the project partners are starting a process of capacity building for organizing trainings for volunteer formations from the cross-border area along the Danube. A total of 6 trainings will be held under the project, which will include Bulgarian and Romanian volunteers from the cross-border region Bulgaria – Romania.
